Rainfall in Houston

The Harris County Flood Warning System has installed rain gauges throughout Harris County. If one moves one's cursor over a particular point, the exact location for the rain gauge is given.

If there is a lot of rain, the individual locations are hard to distinguish. On the right hand side of the page is a plus button that will enlarge the view.

Under the "CURRENT" folder on the left side of the screen one can view cumulative rainfall totals in the last 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 60 minutes, three hours, six hours, twelve hours, twenty-four hours, forty-eight hours, last week, last month or last year. Select your time interval and hit "Refresh Data."

Under the "HISTORICAL" folder one can count back for various time periods from one hour to as far back as 365 days.

This site allows one to monitor how much rain is falling over the travel route one has planned. To access the site, click
