I love blackberries. I grow blackberries. I love to eat my homegrown blackberries. But so do the birds, and there never seems to be enough of this delicious berry. Not to mention that the season for fresh fruit is a few weeks in the spring, and my craving lasts much longer.

Fortunately, Blue Bell Ice Cream has come to the rescue with its new flavor, Southern Blackberry Cobbler.

Sometimes flavored ice creams succeed at producing a hint of the advertised flavor, or enough of it to remind you of what the flavor actually tastes like. Blue Bell does far more than this. Southern Blackberry Cobbler is intense, and seems right on target.

I have a recipe for blackberry cobbler, and I'm not going to stop making it. But for instant gratification in an ice cream that tastes not only of blackberry but also of the cobbler, please give this flavor a try.

We found it at Kroger in May, and it was still for sale all of July. I don't know if this is a seasonal flavor, so my advice is to get to the store right now and buy several cartons. You're in for a treat.
