My Last Run of 2007

December 31, 2007:
For my last ride of the year, I had to suit up in full winter gear. According to Channel 11, it was 40 degrees at the Airport when I awoke. The outside thermometer at the house read 44. Warmer, but still cold. We took Sarah for her morning walk, and I ascertained that 44 was cooler than I liked.

When we got back, I fed Sarah and fixed coffee for Maria and me. I had hoped the early sun would warm up the air, but the thermometer seemed stuck at 44. Around seven, I gave up and changed into my winter gear (including long johns) and headed for the garage. A check of the tire pressure showed the rear tire to be a pound low and the front tire to be a half-pound light. I used the air compressor to top them off, then donned my glove liners in a vain attempt to keep my fingers warm. I then headed out.

There was no fog this morning. The rising sun had full play, and it was a little warmer than I expected. Traffic was light. I guess many people had the day off.

I did my normal workday route, and I turned mile 7600 as I approached the Taylor exit on I-10. I did the bird in honor of the event, for the last time in 2007. It has been a exciting year of riding, both on the Rebel and on the Low Rider. As I pulled up to the driveay, I noted mile 7602 on the odometer. Here's to a great 2008. See you on the road. And don't forget to think.

All statements of speeds on various streets are simple estimates, and solely for novelity purposes. Actual speeds vary, but are always lower. I'm sure that legal speed limits are never exceeded, anything in this blog to the contrary nowithstanding.
