First week of September: Apply fungicide to lawn. In 1996 I did this on 9/22 and I was too late. In 1997 I did this on September 13, 1997 and got a little brown patch. I skipped 1998. Instead, I didn't fertilize in summer. A theory is that high nitrogen fertilizers promote brown patch. In 2000 I began using corn meal for my fungicide for brown patch. I have not had brown patch since switching, even though houses in the area were sometimes hit hard.
