What to Plant in June
Third week: Start fall tomatoes seeds.
All: okra, squash.

MISC

If tomatoes are being eaten by birds, try bird netting. Works great.
An application of fertilizer high in phosphate to your nandinas in mid-June will help them keep their berries in winter.
I recommend raising your mower so it cuts grass at its highest setting. Longer grass can survive the heat and drought much better.
Don't forget that plants in pots need water almost every day. Adding something like Soil Pro 200 to the pot will help the plants if you forget a day or two.
Be careful when foliar feeding your plants. Spray only in very early morning or just before sunset. Otherwise, you may burn the leaves.
Watch for spider mites on your roses and conifers. They can kill a plant in a couple of days or less. High pressure water spraying is effective to knock them off and spraying with liquid seaweed is a good preventative.
Watch for web worms in your pecans, mulberries, rebbuds, blackgums and possumhaws. Wasps will control if you break open the webs. Liquid BT also works.
