Check mulch at beginning of month. Add as necessary.
If drought is present, raise lawn mower to the highest setting.
Last of August is time to put out last application of dry (granular) fertilizers to roses.
Prune blackberry canes which bore fruit this year. Blackberries only produce fruit on new growth.
